Bangladesh Marine Academy Alumni Reunion
Return to the Tide of Memories – BMAAA Get Together 2026

The Bangladesh Marine Academy Alumni Association (BMAAA) successfully organised a memorable and emotional reunion titled “Return to the Tide of Memories – BMAAA Get Together 2026” on Saturday, 10 January 2026. The day-long event brought together former and current cadets of the Bangladesh Marine Academy in a celebration of shared history, friendship, and professional pride.

Held at the historic campus of the Bangladesh Marine Academy in Chattogram, the reunion welcomed alumni from all batches, including those who travelled from different parts of Bangladesh and from overseas. Many participants attended with their families and children, transforming the academy grounds into a vibrant space filled with nostalgia, joy, and renewed connections.

A Day of Memories, Fellowship, and Celebration
The programme featured a wide range of activities including cadet parades, sports events, informal gatherings, cultural performances, and generous hospitality. Special entertainment arrangements for children and active participation of family members added a warm and inclusive dimension to the event.

For many alumni, the reunion provided a rare opportunity to reconnect with former classmates, seniors, and juniors after many years. The shared memories of cadet life—discipline, hardship, and camaraderie—evoked deep emotions and reinforced lifelong bonds among the participants.

Alumni of the Year Award and Scholarships
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the “Alumni of the Year Award” to Captain Belal Ahmed, former Chairman of the International Maritime Employers’ Council Ltd – IMEC, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the maritime sector and his leadership at the international level.

During the programme, scholarships were also announced for newly passed-out cadets of the Bangladesh Marine Academy, reflecting the Alumni Association’s continued commitment to supporting the next generation of Bangladeshi mariners.

Leadership Reflections and Guest Speakers
Speaking at the event, Mr Ghulam M. Suhrawardi, President of the Bangladesh Marine Academy Alumni Association, highlighted the Academy’s proud legacy in producing skilled and competent seafarers. He emphasised that Bangladeshi mariners must continue to play a leading role in strengthening the nation’s presence in the global maritime industry, and that standing beside fellow seafarers in times of hardship is a shared moral responsibility.

The General Secretary of BMAAA, Mr Mahbubur Rahman, stressed the importance of maintaining a balanced intake of cadets into the job market each year and noted that senior and experienced mariners have a responsibility to support employment opportunities and mentorship for newcomers.

The programme was further enriched by speeches from Fasiur Rahman, Faisal Al Asaduzzaman, Tania Begum, Redwan Sajid, and Angan Dash Prangan, who shared reflections on alumni unity, professional responsibility, and the evolving challenges of the maritime profession.

Cultural Evening and Closing Activities
The reunion concluded with engaging cultural performances that showcased music and artistic expressions, followed by a raffle draw, bringing the day to a joyful and celebratory close.

Purpose and Significance of the Reunion
The primary objectives of BMAAA Get Together 2026 were to:

  • Strengthen bonds among former cadets across generations
  • Encourage knowledge and experience sharing to inspire future mariners
  • Celebrate and uphold the proud heritage of the Bangladesh Marine Academy

Organisers noted that such reunions go beyond social gatherings; they contribute to professional networking, mentorship, and the long-term unity of the Bangladeshi mariner community worldwide.

The event was sponsored by several companies, whose support played a vital role in the successful organisation and smooth execution of the programme. The organisers expressed sincere appreciation to all sponsors, volunteers, and participants for their contributions.

BMAAA Get Together 2026” was more than a reunion—it was a living reflection of unity, friendship, and pride among Bangladeshi mariners. The event beautifully brought together the memories of the past, the joy of the present, and the shared aspirations for the future, flowing together like tides that forever bind the alumni of the Bangladesh Marine Academy.
