It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Captain Md. Zahurul Alam, a respected mariner, mentor, and former Principal of the NMA, Singapore. Captain Alam passed away on the evening of 15 June 2025 at Ng Teng Fong Hospital, Singapore.
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un — Truly, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

In Singapore, viewing and the opportunity to pay last respects was held on Monday, 16 June 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 89 Geylang Bahru #01-2738, Singapore 339697. The first Namaz-e-Janaza took place the same day, Monday, 16 June 2025, at approximately 1:10 PM (after Johor prayers) at Angullia Mosque, 265 Serangoon Road, Singapore 218099.
In Bangladesh, the second Namaz-e-Janaza and burial was held on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, at Banani Gorosthan, Dhaka.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all well-wishers, colleagues, and members of the maritime and wider community who joined us to honour and pray for the departed soul. Your presence and prayers were deeply appreciated.
May the Almighty grant Captain Alam the highest place in Jannah and give strength and patience to his bereaved family.
