With deep sorrow, we inform you that Pioneer Mariner, Chief Engineer Sakhawat Hussain passed away on 14 August 2025, while undergoing treatment at United Hospital, Dhaka.
Inna Lillahe Wa Ilaihe Rajiun. (Surely, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return.)
He was 87 years old and had been suffering from age-related ailments for some time.
Chief Engineer Sakhawat Hussain was among the first group of Bangladeshi Mariners recruited by the then Pakistan Public Service Commission’s 3rd Batch (5 Cadets) in 1954. His remarkable journey and lifelong contributions to the maritime profession remain an inspiration to generations of Mariners. (Ref: Pioneer Mariners’ Brochure 2017, page 8a).
May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, accept his lifelong devotion, and grant him a place in Jannatul Ferdous. Please remember him in your prayers.
