IMO Secretary General greeted by Friends of WMU Bangladesh

Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), the UN specialised agency that regulates the global shipping industry, Arsenio Dominguez Velasco arrived in Dhaka on a 4-day official visit on 29th May 2024. High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the UK and Permanent Representative to the IMO Saida Muna Tasneem, DG Shipping Commodore Mohammad Maksud Alam and other senior officials of the Shipping Ministry received IMO SG at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

IMO Secretary General Arsenio Antonio Dominguez visited Bangladesh Marine Academy, Chittagong campus on 01 June 2024. Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem accompanied him.

The Friends of WMU Bangladesh, a platform of 115 Bangladeshi WMU Graduates, provided a warm reception to the visiting IMO (UN) Secretary General & Chancellor of World Maritime University (WMU Sweden) Arsenio Dominguez as the Chief Guest at Bangladesh Marine Academy campus.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh High Commission at London Saida Muna Tasneem was present in the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Sajid Hussain (President of Friends of WMU Bangladesh & IMO [UN] Maritime Ambassador), Mr. Khalid Mahmud, General Secretary of Friends of WMU Bangladesh & Chief Education Officer of Academy and 18 WMU Graduates participated in greeting the Chancellor of WMU Sweden with singing WMU Anthem.

Cadets provided Guard of Honour to the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. It was followed by eventful hours at our beloved Maritime motherland.
